Our Sensory Room
A calm, contained space at The Steading designed for regulation, quiet play and time out. The room supports babies, young children and people with additional support needs. Exclusive use means you set the pace and control the environment for the full hour.
The setup combines gentle, low-level lighting with soft flooring areas, beanbag seating, mirrors, bubble tubes and visual effects. It encourages slow, safe exploration without overwhelm.
Our sensory room is fully accessible for wheelchairs and prams. An accessible toilet is available within the building.
Early Years
Age 0-5 years- Up to 6 participants
- Accompanying carers attend for free
- Exclusive use of the room for your group only
- 1 hour session

Or mixed age groups- Up to 4 participants
- Accompanying carers attend for free
- Exclusive use of the room for your group only

A participant is anyone using the sensory equipment or space (babies, children or adults with ASN). Parents and carers attend for free. Capacity limits are enforced on arrival.
Capacity
Maximum of 6 participants under 5, or 4 participants age 5 and over in the room at one time.
When the room is full, we may need to limit accompanying carers to one per participant for safety and comfort.
Conditions of Play
Supervision – children and vulnerable adults must be supervised by a responsible adult/carer.
No food or drink in the sensory room.
Gentle play – handle equipment with care.
Please do not attend if unwell – reschedule instead.
