We’re currently looking for volunteers to support community activities at The Steading. The role description below is for a regular weekly position during term time only. If you’re interested, apply using our contact form and we’ll arrange a quick informal chat.
Where: The Steading, Carnethie Street, Rosewell (EH24 9AA)
Time: Around 1.5 hours per week, plus a small amount of planning time each term
RASCALS is an arts and crafts session for primary school age children. We’re looking for volunteers to support our Community Activities Assistant and help sessions run smoothly and safely.
What you’ll help with

Setting up and tidying materials

Supporting small groups or individual children with an activity

Helping keep the space calm, organised and welcoming

You may have the option to lead a simple activity yourself if you feel confident (optional)
What we’re looking for

A patient, steady approach and a friendly manner

Reliability, and a commitment to attending each week

Comfortable working as part of a small team
No specific experience is required. If you enjoy practical, hands-on activities and working with children in a group setting, you’ll be a good fit.
Support and supervision
You’ll have a named contact (Volunteer Coordinator) and someone else to go to if they’re unavailable. We do informal check-ins around every three months to make sure the role is working for you and to see if you’d like to build confidence or take on more responsibility.
Training
You’ll be offered an induction when you start. Additional training can be arranged depending on the role and what you’d like to get out of volunteering.
