Welcome to Rosewell Development Trust & The Steading
The Steading is a vibrant, friendly space at the heart of Rosewell. Created by Rosewell Development Trust, it is home to a variety of community groups, children’s activities, a welcoming café, and spaces for meetings, events and creative sessions.
We’re proud to offer opportunities for all ages and stages of life. Soft play, sensory sessions, community lunches, workshops and events all help bring people together and support wellbeing, connection and growth across Rosewell.
For Our Community
The Steading is a hub for community life – a place to connect, find support and try something new.
Each week you’ll find a variety of groups and activities, including children’s clubs, creative workshops, social meet-ups and fitness sessions. Many are free or low-cost, though booking may be required.
We also host community resources such as the School Uniform Exchange and Rosewell’s Little Free Library, run by Rosewell Primary Parent Partnership, giving families easier access to what they need.

Soft Play
Suitable for children under 5, our bright and friendly soft play room is a fun, safe space for babies and toddlers to explore and enjoy active play.
Sensory Room
Our sensory room is a calming, multi-sensory space designed to support babies, young children and individuals with additional support needs.
Children's Parties
Birthday parties made easy in our spacious main hall – the ideal space for games, activities and celebration. Available to hire on Saturday afternoons.
Hall Hire
Our bright and versatile main hall is ideal for parties, fitness classes, baby groups, community events and meetings. A flexible space that can be set up to suit your needs.
Room Hire
Choose from our modern conference suite or two adjoining craft rooms (which can be combined into one larger space). Perfect for workshops, meetings or informal gatherings.
Café
While we finalise arrangements with a new operator for The Steading Cafe, we are pleased to welcome A Cup Above, who will be serving from The Steading car park starting Thursday 6 November.
At the Heart of Rosewell
The Steading was created by Rosewell Development Trust to bring people together, reduce isolation and support the wellbeing of our village.
It’s a place where friendships are made, skills are shared and community life thrives, through weekly clubs, one-off events, or a simple cup of tea in the café.
Everything we do here is shaped by local need, and made possible thanks to the ongoing support of volunteers, funders and community partners.
Volunteering is at the heart of The Steading, with opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved. We are proud to hold the Volunteer Friendly Award, recognising the quality and value of the volunteer experience we provide.
