The role will include supporting and developing children’s activities, including groups such as Lego Club, alongside wider community events, workshops, seasonal activities and intergenerational projects.

About the role

The Community Activities Coordinator will help plan, organise and deliver activities for people of all ages in our community.

This will include working with children, young people, older adults, volunteers, local groups and partner organisations to help make sure our programme is welcoming, inclusive and responsive to local needs.

A background in childcare, youth work, community work, events, or a similar setting would be helpful, particularly as the role involves regulated work with children and protected adults. However, we are also interested in hearing from people with strong organisational skills, good communication skills, and experience working with groups.

  • Support children’s groups and school holiday activities
  • Help develop community events, seasonal celebrations and intergenerational activities
  • Work with volunteers, local groups, schools and partner organisations
  • Promote activities through newsletters, posters, social media and the RDT website
  • Keep records of attendance, feedback, volunteer involvement and activity outcomes
  • Support the safe and effective delivery of activities at The Steading

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Organised, reliable and able to manage a varied workload
  • Confident working with different age groups
  • Good with people and able to build positive relationships
  • Able to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends on a rota basis
  • Comfortable using basic IT, including email, Word, spreadsheets and online communication tools
  • Interested in community inclusion, wellbeing and equal opportunities
  • Able to work as part of a small team and use their own initiative

Experience in childcare, youth work, community development, events, volunteering or a charity setting would be useful.

This post involves regulated work with children and protected adults.

Appointment to the post is subject to satisfactory PVG Scheme membership and relevant safeguarding checks.
