New solar panels installed at The Steading
Now that April is here and the sun is finally starting to make a more regular appearance, it feels like a good time to share some positive news from The Steading.
On 9th March this year, our new solar panels were installed, funded through the CARES Community Solar Fund.
Support from CARES Community Solar Fund
CARES, the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme, supports communities across Scotland to take part in the move towards net zero. Managed by Local Energy Scotland, it helps community organisations develop renewable energy projects and make their buildings more sustainable.
We’re really pleased to have been supported through this initiative. As a community organisation, it’s important to us that The Steading continues to develop in ways that are thoughtful, practical, and mindful of the wider environment. Installing solar panels is one step towards making this shared community space more sustainable for the future.

A more sustainable future for our community space
The panels will help us make better use of renewable energy, and we estimate they will save around 1.5 to 1.7 tonnes of CO₂ each year. This is a meaningful reduction, and part of a wider effort to ensure The Steading remains a sustainable and responsible resource for the community in the years ahead.
We’re grateful for the support that made this possible, and pleased to be taking a positive step for both the building and the wider community of Rosewell and beyond that it serves.
